ExcellentBook was more than I expected. A lot of detailed information. I was able to contact several marinas and get inquires answered. The CD was also excellent, a cruise could be planned with ease, for stop off points using dockage rates. Highly recommended for planning first time cruises.

The Atlas of the Bible Lands
Published in Hardcover by Peter Bedrick Books (09 February, 2001)
Average review score:

The Atlas of the Bible Lands:HIstory, Daily Life, and TraditAlthough the Horn book called the pages overcrowded, I think the book is ideal for young or reluctant readers because there are so many pictures calculated to capture student interest. Short descriptions of religions in Egypt, Rome, and Mesopotamia lend to making comparisons and gaining a quick overview of the topic. The index lists 27 pages for Egypt, but some pages only mention Egypt in passing with no information about Egypt (example: p. 20 "In the Exodus story Moses and Aaron ask the pharaoh to let his Jewish slaves go free. When he refuses, God brings ten plagues down on Egypt, including frogs, boils, hail and locusts"). Includes maps and illustrations.

Away for the Weekend - Southeast: Great Getaways for Every Season in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee (Away for the Weekend Series)
Published in Paperback by Crown Pub (April, 1997)
Average review score:

Away for the Weekend: SoutheastAnyone living in the Southeast (Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) will find this travel book to be a practical and useful tool. The author, Eleanor Berman, pairs seasonal activities and local attractions with various locales. For me, this opened my eyes to the many enjoyable short trips my family and I can take without going too far from home. The book contains telephone numbers, driving directions and suggestions for accommodations and restaurants that I likely would never have discovered on my own. My family and I have stayed in several of the book's recommended bed and breakfasts and have been delighted. I keep this book handy to refer to for travel ideas. I reccommend it highly as a thorough and "user friendly" guide to travel in the Southeast.

Back East: South
Published in Paperback by Pinnacle Entertainment Group, Inc. (01 January, 1999)
Average review score:

When things go south . . .My friends and I have been playing a Deadlands game off and on since the game came out-- in our current incarnation, we decided (being Southern by nature) to make Southern characters. Without this book, we would've been lost. New edges, new hindrances (if you don't know what I'm talking about, buy the Player's Guide & see), and marvelously in-depth descriptions of various cities throughout the South, including our very own Savannah-- this book contains all of that and more. Marshals who want to take their campaigns "Back East" will find plenty of inspiration here. Notable inclusions include new edges such as Gallows Humor and Rebel Yell, as well as rules for Southern-style duels. This book will definitely add personality to your posse.

Backed Against the Sea (Cornell East Asia Series, No 67)
Published in Hardcover by Cornell Univ (September, 1993)
Average review score:

Excellent example of experimental fiction.I read this book in a class on Modern Chinese Literature, and it was the best book in the class. Truthfully, it was not for everyone. I know at least one member of the class who found the style daunting and difficult to swallow. But I loved it. Wang is a professor in Taiwan of modern European literature, and it shows. Traces of many modernist and post-modernist techniques show up in Backed Against the Sea, as well as a complex take on things uniqulely Chinese and Taiwanese. If you like Chinese fiction, European modernism and/or post-modernism, I highly recommend this book. It is not an easy read, but I find it well worth the pleasure

Baedeker's Egypt 1929
Published in Hardcover by David & Charles Publishers (June, 1985)
Average review score:

An authoritative guide to the sitesI bought this book while I was living in Egypt and used it as a tour guide when I wandered independently around the country. It gave the fullest descriptions I have seen anywhere of the antiquities and of the Islamic sights. It enabled me to explore with confidence that I would not get lost, and would find all the places of note.
It is compact - easy to carry in a rucksac or bicycle saddlebag. It survived the travelling well - just keeping it in a plastic bag to prevent too much sand and dust getting between the pages.
The maps were still sufficiently current to get you there, the plans of the monuments were excellent, and made sure every recess was findable.
I would recommend it to any independent traveller, even if now in an armchair. It is a pleasure to read as well as to use as a guide book.
